THE DESIRE OF ALL NATIONS

What we have been learning about the envisioned language nations of the Millennium and their territorial inheritance is one reason why the Anointed One’s coming to establish the promised kingdom is described as the coming of “the desire of all nations.” It answers the deepest aspiration of all ethnic groups of the earth: a land and nation of their own. “And I will shake all nations [the present ethnic conglomerations of nations are falling apart!] and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house [the millennial Temple in Jerusalem, the focus of the global kingdom] with glory, saith the LORD of hosts. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts. The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts” (Haggai 2:7-9).
That’s when the lofty aspirations of the proposed New World Order, as captured in the speech of former United States president George H.W. Bush, will be divinely realised: “A big idea – a new world order, where diverse nations are drawn together in common cause to achieve the universal aspirations of mankind: peace and security, freedom, and the rule of law” (emphases added). That’s what will finally put an end to global unrest and ethnic strife. That’s the divinely provided way. The fulfillment of this desire of “all [ethnic] families of the earth” (see Genesis 12:3) is also the reason why the saints that will reign with the Lord over the millennial kingdom must be redeemed “out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation” (see Revelation 5:9,10 and Kings and Priests).
Now, as I noted in Language Nations, the 6,000 number of the world’s languages given by the United Nations is obviously a round off. We can give or take a few tens or hundreds. That still does not disprove the vision of exactly 6,000 language nations, or provinces, of the promised kingdom. For when the King comes, “before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” (see Matthew 25:31-34*). It is the favored nations, the “sheep” nations, that inherit the kingdom, while the rest (the national entities, I believe), for reasons of some unpardonable blemishes in their histories, are abolished. Some of the nations admitted into the kingdom, the Commonwealth of Israel, might have to be resettled. It would be much like the former time when the Spirit of the King and Judge led a favored people (Israel, the prototype nation) to the land of their inheritance and divided it among their tribes by lot.
But you shouldn’t marvel if, after all the unworthy members of the present congregation of nations have been fingered for elimination, and those that have always believed that they are a homogeneous group are separated, you undertake a count and discover that what we have is exactly 6,000 language nations. I would not. His Majesty will tell those nations that their places were prepared and reserved for them “from the foundation of the world.” They were in the original purpose and plan of God, foreseen and numbered before disorderliness and confusion came to reign. They are the nations Christ promised His saints power over: “And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron” (Revelation 2:26,27).
I do not only see these envisioned six thousand language nations of the millennial kingdom confirmed and predicted by the six-point Star of David on the flag of present Israel, but the two blue stripes bordering the star also point to the two streams of people, Jews and Gentiles, that the kingdom unifies. Remember that the coming global union of nations under the “Son of David” would actually be the Commonwealth of Israel! Yes, I can also see how the full internal establishment of these 6,000 provinces of the new world order of the kingdom were prefigured in the post-independence emergence of the constituting states of the United States of America, the New World, “God’s own country,” a wasteland that became the cynosure of the world! As we know, the stars and stripes of the Star-Spangled Banner, the flag of the United States, were designed and numbered to represent the constituting states (formerly called colonies) of the Union. And to think of the similarities that exist between the histories of Israel and the United States!
All these, when put together, amount to a divinely given preview of more wonderful “things which must shortly come to pass.” It is the steady progression of a great divine agenda. Think of what it would be like if that “beauty in diversity” and sophistication of the United States – natural, man-made and societal – were perfected and extended the world over. Think of it, for that would give you an idea of the breathtaking “New World” of the Millennium. We are speaking of the global Commonwealth of Israel and hence a global extension of all those glorious prophetic words about the restored and glorified Israel in the kingdom. An example: “For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the gentiles like a flowing stream” (Isaiah 66:12). Another: “Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined”! (Psalm 50:2.) So keep the faith, and remain posted.
God bless you always.
In the King’s Service,
David Olagoke Olawoyin.
* As I bear out in my coming book The Coming Glory, this passage transcends the political judgment of nations and includes the final judgment of all men, “The Final Task of the Kingdom.”
